What is Intuition?
"A complex and innovative cognitive capacity"
According to Lois Isenman: "At one level, the content level, intuition refers to insights that pop into mind without effort and reorient understanding in important, novel, and sometimes radical ways. At another level, the processing level, it refers to a specific way of integrating information that generally occurs below awareness and supports direct knowing, or knowing without conscious thinking. At yet another level, the evaluative level, it refers to a largely unconscious mode of evaluation that allows us to judge whether our own or others’ ideas are true. Each aspect of intuition implies that the unconscious mind possesses surprising intelligence." (Quote from Understanding Intuition: A Journey In and Out of Science)
In this book, Isenman goes further to say "Intuition is often seen as synonymous with the products of System 1" (System 1 being the first thing that comes to mind) which is the main trait that differentiates ordinary thought from intuition. Therefore, in order to strengthen your intuition, you must learn to trust the first thought that comes to your mind, learn to block out the noise, learn to question but not second guess. Only then would you be able to clear out the mental pathway that clearly reveals the journey towards your purpose in life. It is about building trust in yourself.
And, contrary to popular belief, everyone is psychic, not just a "select few". So, if you stumbled on this page because the thought "Am I psychic?" occurred to you, the answer is yes, absolutely, you are. Now go into the world and strengthen your abilities and use them for party tricks.
